Tropical Yarn Crawl
When is the Tropical Yarn Crawl?
The yarn crawl begins on Friday, January 27th, 2017 and runs through Saturday, February 4th, 2017.
What is the Tropical Yarn Crawl?
Eight Florida-based local yarn shops (LYS) from Vero Beach to Miami will be participating in this nine-day event for you to get to know each LYS and have some fun while doing it. Participating Tropical Yarn Crawl Shops will be holding trunk shows, yarn tastings, book signings, and other demonstrations of interest to knitters, crocheters, and weavers.
How do I get a Passport and what do I do with it?
The passport is a free download available at the Tropical Yarn Crawl website. It's a PDF that you can print on your home printer and take to your first stop on the crawl. Participating shops will also have copies you can pick up in person during the crawl. Each shop will stamp your passport when you arrive, and you can turn in your completed passport at any participating shop. The passport lists the participating shops, addresses and phone numbers, too, for handy reference. The winner for the Grand Prize of the Tropical Yarn Crawl will be chosen from the turned-in passports of participants who completed all 8 stops on the crawl!
The passport is free, so click here to download it now!
Yes, there is! There is a limited edition colorway for the 2017 Tropical Yarn Crawl, available at each participating yarn crawl shop and online as well. The special edition is Baah Yarn's "Savannah - Tropical Yarn Crawl 2017 Exclusive Colorway". Aren't these the perfect colors for this awesome event?
What is a Yarn Trunk Show?
During a yarn trunk show, a yarn manufacturer (or an individual dyer) will send the yarn shop a huge box (aka a "trunk" ) full of completed projects ('Finished Objects) made with different colorways of the trunk show yarns! You will be able to see - and feel - how the highlighted yarn colorways were knitted, crocheted, woven or spun into it's final forms. Often, the samples in the trunk show will inspire you to create similar projects using the same yarns!
What is a Yarn Tasting?
We bring ALL the different yarns that a yarn manufacturer (or individual dyer) makes into the shop and give you an opportunity to get a 'taste' of the different yarns by using small samples of them with knitting needles, crochet hooks, a rigid-heddle loom or a spindle. This gives you a great "hands-on" opportunity to touch and use the very yarn fibers and colorways of the yarns being highlighted.
